wind knots. l hate those too. happens a lot during the cast. uncoated braids are extremely limp and susceptible to them. spend a bit more for a fused or coated braid (if you MUST use braid) rather than a generic one with no protection from this.
and as mentioned, keep your line snug during retrieves. by now, perhaps the quantity of line on the spool may have reduced to a more manageable level.
