F1 Racing Stage 3 Clutch?
I have a 99 z24 cavalier that needs a new clutch, just wonderings if a stage 3 would be fine? it has a aftermarket exhaust, and an aftermarket intake
its a 2.4 L twin cam
Stage 3 and not anyother stage only because i found one for cheap that comes with:
F1 Racing Heavy-Duty Pressure Plate
F1 Racing 'MIBA' Copper Ceramic 6-puck Disc (8-7/8", 14 spline)
Slave cylinder with Release Bearing
It won't make your car any faster (just like the exhaust and intake didn't), and will make it so your clutch is on-off instead of having a nice gradual application. In a car that small, it will be inconvenient, and if you live in a northern state where there is a lot of snow in the winter, it will potentially make the car undriveable on snowy/icy roads.
"Stage whatever" clutches for 4-cylinder cars are not necessary unless you are running some crazy turbocharger/supercharger setup where you have increased your torque output by more than 50%... You can hope for 2 or 3 horsepower at best with an exhaust and intake, in fact, on a cavalier, you are probably seeing less than that.
