1999 Monte Carlo Fuel Pump Removal: Can I do this without dropping the tank?
Can I get to it by removing the back seat and getting to it from the top of the tank without removing the tank? Also, is it safer to work with a full fuel tank or an almost empty one?
Some cars have a access panel in the trunk or under the backseat so you can get to the fuel pump with out dropping the tank. In my 2000 bonneville there is one in the trunk behind the back seat on the passenger side. Just pull the carpet out the trunk to see if your car has one. If not it is best to have the gas tank as empty as possible for easy handling.
